We bought the long awaited trampoline and it arrived on Friday. Tim and Lestie had come for a visit, perfect timing! Tim and Chris put it together and the kids all fought over who could be on it all weekend long. (There was no snow then, it just dumped on us last night!) It was great fun, and we set up rules to make it fair and safe for everyone.
Yesterday, after they went home Conner and Benson were jumping together just before dinner. Conner forgot for a moment that Benson is about 1/3 his weight, and did a huge jump right next to where he was standing. He collapsed. I saw them out there and Conner was holding a crying Benson. After a few minutes, and he didn't quit crying (Benson doesn't cry over little things, he says "ow" and moves on- one tough kid.) I told Conner to bring him to me, and I held him. After a bit he calmed down, but wouldn't stand up. That worried me, that he might have injured his spine or something. I put him in the bath to see if he would like that but he kept crying so I got him out and ready to take to the ER.
After a couple of minutes in the car he stopped crying and was pointing out trucks on the road. I wondered if I had jumped the gun taking him in, but after we got there he still wouldn't stand up so I went in. After 2 hours in the ER, 2 cups of apple juice, a whole sleeve of Ritz crackers and several glove balloons later we discovered Benson has a broken tibia (lower leg). He was such a trooper, never crying even when the doc was moving his leg. He would just wince and do a loud whisper "ow." So they splinted him and gave me the number of a pediatric orthopedic doc he needs to see in a couple of days.
As for now, he is in pain and quite cranky about not being able to go anywhere. I feel so bad for him! I feel bad for me too, I get to carry him everywhere for the next however long until he can walk again!

Oh Juliette SORRY that is so sad. I will make sure my kids don't do that to Wes... Poor baby give him a kiss from me.

Oh no! Poor Bees!!! I'm so sorry! I bet Conner feels pretty bad too, poor kid.
I'm so sorry Juliette! Of course, I understand why you wanted to trade weekends! Besides the ER visit, how is everything else?
We miss you lots!
poor you, poor conner, and poor benson. Are the kids still happy trampoline crazy???
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry :( Poor Benson--and after all that excitement over the tramp, ouch!
That stinks! Poor kid! I keep wondering when our trampoline is going to send us to the ER also. They sure are fun though.
I feel your pain Juliette...Maddy broke two toes last week jumping on her friend's tramp. She was out of school for two days!
