The heavens opened...
We had a gloomy, rainy day yesterday. It cleared up toward evening, just in time for the kids to go out and get muddy. Then, all of the sudden we saw lightening and heard thunder, and it got very dark outside. We gathered all of the kids inside, and tried to calm Susanna as she was very afraid of the noises. We all watched out the front door as the rains came down in sheets, pounding the pavement. Then after 10 minutes or so of that, the hail came. It was the size of peas, and hitting hard. We were glad for safe shelter at that point! The lightening and thunder were also quite impressive. After about 15 minutes, the whole thing was over and the sun came out. It was almost 8 pm and still sunny--quite difficult to convince the riled up kids that it really was bedtime. The pictures just don't do it justice, it was a fun storm to watch!
